I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina. My research and teaching interests focus on the rule of law, institutions, and the politics of postcommunism. I have done research work on the rule of law for the American Bar Foundation and the World Justice Project. During the 2012-2013 academic year I was a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
