I was a tutor at the University of Warwick between 2007 and 2010. "Making of the Modern World" is a first year undergraduate course that covers major events in history between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries. The course introduces students to key concepts and themes about processes of modernisation and modernity, viewed from a global perspective.
In 2010 I taught an MA option module at the University of York. This module examines representations of women over the long eighteenth century, using sources from art history and literature (as well as conventional historical sources). We examined how women were represented, how they represented themselves and the range of characteristics attributed to women. We also discussed how this has influenced the depiction of women by the academic world.
I have taught undergraduates at the University of Warwick for three years, and have also taught an MA option module at the University of York. Both experiences have been very stimulating and enjoyable.
