I have been awarded the following grants and fellowships:

Arts Enterprise and Festival of the Mind grants, 2013-14, University of Sheffield. To develop public engagement activity including an immersive theatre piece related to my Alessandro de' Medici project. Value approx. £8,000.

Max Weber Fellowship, 2010-11, European University Institute. Twelve-month postdoctoral research fellowship.

Rome Fellowship, 2009-10, British School at Rome. Nine-month residential postdoctoral fellowship to carry out research for my project ‘Our Men in Rome: Ambassadors and agents at the papal court, c. 1450-1530’.

Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation: Venetian research program. Grant of £3,000 to carry out research in Venice during summer 2008 on the diplomatic practice of Giambattista Casali, England’s ambassador to Venice 1525-35.

Scouloudi Fellowship, 2007-08, Institute of Historical Research. Six-month junior research fellowship tenable at the Institute to support completion of doctoral thesis (value £5,000).

AHRC PhD studentship 2004-07, Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK); additional allowances granted for overseas research 2005-06 and travel to Renaissance Society of America annual meeting, March 2007.

Arts and Humanities Research Council: £2,000 grant for organisation of postgraduate conference on medieval and Renaissance court culture, March 2007.

Society for Renaissance Studies: Grant of £405 to cover costs of research trip to Paris, April 2007.

Conference attendance bursaries from the University of Edinburgh (February 2007), Royal Historical Society (March 2007), University of Liverpool (July 2007) and Open University (April 2009).

In 2003 I was awarded the Alison Brown prize for first place in the Royal Holloway MA in Renaissance and Early Modern Europe.
While an undergraduate at the University of Liverpool I was awarded the Sir Henry Wade Deacon and Derby University Undergraduate Scholarships.
